Job Summary:
The Director, Digital Programming Direct To Consumer will be responsible for managing the various content distribution relationships of ESPN+ and will establish a leadership role in the strategy and execution of ESPN+ content on off-platform distribution points requiring leadership and collaboration with third-party partners and various internal Disney-wide stakeholders. The Director will report to the Sr Director Digital Media Programming and be accountable for maximizing ESPN+ content prioritization, viewership engagement, and ESPN+ and Disney Bundle subscription via creative and strategic content creation, planning, and merchandising. The Director will work across various programming, marketing, operations, research and analytics, and business teams throughout Disney and third parties to support the maximization of the distribution point.
Responsibilities:
* Establish and lead ESPN+ content relationship with third-party platforms aligning on strategic goals and performance expectations in coordination with ESPN and third party teams.
* Direct the ESPN+ content strategy on ESPN+ third-party distribution platforms.
* Lead the communication of ESPN content priorities in service to marketing and promotional planning.
* Establish and Lead the programming and content curation strategy for the ESPN+ Hub/landing page on distribution platforms.
* Establish and lead the programming and content curation strategy for ESPN+ series, categories, and sections
* In collaboration with the distribution partner, lead the planning and execution of off-platform curated content collections.
* Ensure the accuracy of all schedule information and imagery of ESPN+ content across distribution platforms.
* Lead the ESPN+ content strategy informing creative stunt and merchandising strategies designed to engage existing viewers and attract ESPN+ and Disney Bundle subscribers.
* As a leader on the digital media programming team, contribute creative ideas and suggestions guided by ESPNs overall business priorities, strategies, viewer response, and the competitive landscape
* Establish KPIs and tracking/reporting cadence translating viewership and engagement trends on the platform and for ESPN content specifically to inform actions and strategies
Basic Qualifications:
* 8 years of experience in television programming or related sports field.
* Strong knowledge of the changing landscape of television, the sports business & the cable industry.
* Strong knowledge of ESPN Digital Platforms and Strategies
* Strong knowledge of Disneys Direct To Consumer offerings and strategy
* Strong knowledge of Digital Video services like YouTube TV, Direct TV Now, HULU Sling TV.
* Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships throughout and across organizations and business functions.
* Demonstrated ability to positively lead and grow a team of direct reports
Preferred Qualifications:
* 10 years of experience in television programming or related sports field with 5+ years of management experience.
* Knowledge and experience in content scheduling and digital merchandising systems or other ORACLE-related computer systems.
* Strong knowledge of ESPNs digital products and business.
* Strong knowledge of Disneys direct to consumer products and business
