Job Summary:
The Manager, Programming takes a lead role in the daily relationship management, schedule maintenance, promotion, and merchandising of ESPN+ content on ESPN+ off-platform distribution points. This role reports to the Director of Programming. The Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day content relationships with counterparts at these distribution platforms with accountability toward maximizing content engagement and ESPN+/Disney Bundle subscriptions via creative content curation, promotion, integration, and merchandising. The Manager will work across various programming, marketing, operations, research and analytics, and business teams throughout Disney to support the maximization of the distribution point.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the communication of ESPN content priorities in service to marketing and promotional planning on platform.
* Execute and manage the programming and content curation strategy for the ESPN+ Hub/landing page on distribution platforms.
* Manage the programming and content curation strategy for ESPN+ series, categories, and sections in coordination with ESPN and third party teams.
* In collaboration with the distribution partner, plan and execute off-platform curated content collections.
* Ensure the accuracy of all schedule information and imagery of ESPN+ content across distribution platforms.
* Collaborate with distribution partners on creative stunt and merchandising strategies designed to engage existing viewers and attract ESPN+ and Disney Bundle subscribers.
* As part of the digital programming team, contribute creative ideas and suggestions guided by ESPNs overall business priorities, strategies, viewer response, and the competitive landscape
* Track and translate viewership and engagement trends on the platform and for ESPN content specifically and inform actions and strategies
Basic Qualifications:
* 5 years of experience in television programming or related sports field.
* Strong knowledge of the changing landscape of television, the sports business & the cable industry.
* Strong knowledge of ESPN Digital Platforms and Strategies
* Strong knowledge of Disneys Direct To Consumer offerings and strategy
* Strong knowledge of Digital Video services like YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, Direct TV Now, HULU Sling TV.
* Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships throughout and across organizations and business functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 7 years of experience in television programming or related sports field.
* Knowledge and experience in content scheduling and digital merchandising systems or other ORACLE-related computer systems.
* Strong knowledge of ESPNs digital products and business.
* Strong knowledge of Disneys direct to consumer products and business
