GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This position packages the Company's products in a productive and cost-efficient manner. This employee inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process to insure standards of quality and quantity are maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Meet or exceed posted production hourly rates.
* Manually perform one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, labeling, boxing, or wrapping. Also includes loading and unloading packing machines.
* Pack customer orders meeting customer expectations.
* Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process to ensure standards of quality and quantity are maintained.
* Verify customer order and product being packed match.
* Visually inspect for defective product or materials during packaging process and remove any that do not meet the level of quality expected.
* Obtain and sort product to be packaged, manually fold and assemble packaging materials and pack special arrangements or selections of product.
* Make necessary adjustments as required by product specifications.
* Work as a cooperative member of the team.
* Maintain a clean, uncluttered workplace performing TPM and 5S as scheduled.
* Accurately maintain required records.
* Attend training to maintain and/or increase skills and help train others as needed.
* Adjust work schedule to meet needs of other shifts when necessary
* Understands and follows the Jackson sites environmental policy and the environmental impacts associated with their work activities.
* Any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* High school or GED required
* 6+ months related experience in mfg environment
* Must have good interpersonal skills and work well with other employees.
* Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
* Ability to write simple correspondence.
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situation to other employees of the organization.
* Ability to read and interpret safety rules.
* Ability to add and subtract five-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
* Ability to perform these operations using units of measurement for weight and/or volume.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situation
