Oracle is building a from scratchInfrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Public Cloud, and a large part of thateffort is state of the art network and load balancing capabilities. We arelooking for exceptional software engineers with backgrounds in networking,kernel internals, and distributed systems.

The load balancer team is building a high performance, scaleout, high availability offering that will be the foundation of a modern cloudsystem. You will be part of a team founded by industry veterans from AWS,Google, OpenStack, Joyent and others that will create the firstenterprise-grade public cloud service. We believe this team and mission sitssquarely at the center of Oracle%27s future, and this is an opportunity torethink the way load balancing, networking, compute, and storage systemsinteract and change the way applications are built.

We have engineering work at every layer of the stack fromthe REST API to distributed systems, kernel internals, and system tuning andperformance. We are looking for teammates who are interested in beingpart of a team that innovates from top to bottom which requires traversing fromthe customer experience down to bit twiddling in the kernel. We believe thatthe only way to succeed is to own every part of the problem and are creating ateam that controls its own destiny.

Qualifications

Candidates should be passionate about distributed systems,cloud computing, and container management. Candidates will need to possess deepCS expertise, as well as excel at written and verbal communication.

BS in Computer Science; level commensurate withyears of experience

A minimum of 2+ years experience ofrunning large scale customer facing web services.

Demonstrable experience with Java, and/or C/C++

Experience with distributed systems: familiaritywith CAP theorem, consensus, messaging, etc.

Experience with general networking, loadbalancing, virtual networks, etc.

Experience with containers and Linux OSvirtualization: LXC, Docker, KVM, etc.

Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-callschedule with customer notifications and escalations.

Methodical approach to troubleshoot, large,complex, interconnected systems.

Excellent organizational, verbal, and writtencommunication skills

Most importantly, the attitude to be a good teamplayer and a strong willingness to learn

As part of Oracles employment process candidates will berequired to complete a pre-employment screening process, prior to an offerbeing made. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
