In this job, youll perform the oversight of fire use, fire prevention and fire suppression on SCE forestlands. The position supports public use and recreation administration as well as forest and vegetation management operations. Candidate directs fire prevention and recreation policy patrols as well as fire readiness for initial attack and suppression. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

* Direction of wildfire prevention, suppression and recreation patrol on SCE owned forestlands.
* Work as a liaison with Cal Fire, USFS and law enforcement personnel to assist during wildfire and emergency response incidents.
* Lead the prescribed fire program, including project planning, pre-fire treatments, obtainment of required agency permits, and coordination of fire use projects in cooperation with fellow Forest Management Team members.
* Ensure fire readiness of all department wildland fire suppression equipment including 2 Type 6 fire trucks, 1 fire patrol boat, 3 fire trailers and all accompanying pumps, hoses, fittings and hand tools.
* Oversight of fire use and prescribed burn rotation on SCE forest lands.
* Support and coordinate Cal Fire/ SCE cooperative Vegetation Management Program.
* Oversee contract work related to vegetation management and fire line construction.
* Performs public outreach and education concerning fire prevention, fire use and forest management.

Qualifications
The essentials

* 5 years of experience in prescribe burn project implementation.
* Valid U.S. Drivers License.

The preferred

* Bachelors degree in fire ecology, forestry or related field.
* Experience with the supervision of prescribe burn planning and implementation.
* Seven years of experience in wildland fire supervision.
* Working knowledge of forestry, recreation and wildlife management.
