Job Profile
JOB SUMMARY:
The Nurse Patient Educator I (NPE I) provides self-management support utilizing teaching/learning principles, strategies, tools, and interventions to develop informed and engaged patients.
The NPE I educates patients/families and team members using the nursing process, knowledge and skills. The NPE I communicates and collaborates with patients/families and team members and uses resources and systems to enhance patient outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education/specialized training/licensure:
a. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelors degree in nursing required.
b. Certification in related specialty preferred.
c. Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
2. Work experience: Two (2) years of work experience in a related clinical area of practice.
One (1) year patient education experience.
3. Other Requirements:
a. Fluent in spoken and written Spanish for Ambulatory Care Services
b. Travel between Harris Health System Facilities and in the community
