Job Description

GDIT is looking for a Systems Engineer Expertto join our team supporting the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Eagan, MN.

The new hire will provide technical support to the Eagan Solutions Center, or other designated locations, for the application and system development, maintenance, and overall technical support as required. Agile SCRUM development methodologies will be used for software development as applicable. The ideal candidate is highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or network engineering.

GDIT provides the professional, technical, and end-to-end support services required for Postal Service applications; supports and assists in developing strategies for the next generation of IT products; and develops and implements engineering improvements for operating and administrative processes. The Quality Assurance Software Testing Engineer will help the Postal Service achieve improvements in customer service, performance, and productivity.

Responsibilities:
* Acts independently under general direction. Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities.

* Formulates / defines specifications, develops / modifies / maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems.

* Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems.

* Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.

* Analyzes methods of approach.

* Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems.

* Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used.

* Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.

* Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues; and consults with client to define needs or challenges; while also supervising studies: leading surveys and performing data collection for analyses used to advise and recommend/suggest solutions.

Required Skills:
* 8+ years of related experience

* Strong experience with COBOL, VSAM, JCL, TSO/ISPF, XPEDITER, FileAid, Changeman, DB2, knowledge of Payroll processing

* Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes and management tools such as VersionOne

* Knowledge of and experience in an IT Service management System (preferably ServiceNow) and ITIL processes

Desired Skills:
* Degree from an accredited College/University in a related field is preferred
