Scope of Position:
In this role, you will work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. This role is expected to be able to work with no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. We look for you to encompass the application of scientific and technological principles concerned with a continuous or periodic system of operations or activities in the production of manufactured products. You will provide technical expertise in glass-forming technologies and related manufacturing equipment, supporting the manufacturing and product development for the business. May also support other equipment for processes such as molding, extrusion and packaging. Participates in troubleshooting, process improvement, and new equipment installation that vary in complexity.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Complies with safety standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out and Zero-Energy.
* Function as a collaborative team member supporting manufacturing
* Repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, inspects, and monitors production and/or facility related equipment and machinery.
* Supports required preventive maintenance at defined intervals. Routinely assesses the suitability of such intervals and scope covered and revises when necessary.
* Provide inputs on continuous improvement projects
* Support training for operations and other technicians
* Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns and performs maintenance whenever required to ensure uninterrupted customer supply.
* Works with Quality and Engineering to document repairs/changes made to equipment.
* Supports validations from a mechanical support perspective.
* Supports all capital equipment projects (as the subject matter expert (SME) for maintenance) including specification, design input, testing, etc.
* Support job changes and production runs
* Performs maintenance tracking activities
* Report at production meetings and data reviews
* Perform visual and dimensional inspections
* Support process and inventory tracking systems
* Act as 1st Level Subject Expert.
Travel Requirements:
* Short term (first 1-6 months): up to 50%
* Long term (>6months): We anticipate less than 5% travel is required for this role.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
* 40 hours/week with scheduled overtime
* This role will support a new product at the facility. During start up, hours will be generally be on 1st shift, M-F, and will eventually move to 12 hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule.
Required Education:
* 2-year Associates or Technical Degree or equivalent military certification or experience.
Required Years and Area of Experience:
* Minimum 6 years experience in a technical or equipment maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
Desired Skills:
* Highly interested in candidates with converting and glass forming experience.
* Preferred experience in FDA compliant manufacturing environment
* Prior 5+ years of Machinist or other mechanically skilled experience strongly preferred.
* Specific work experience in use of Vision systems, electrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC, Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and making modifications to Ladder Logic.
* Working technical knowledge of material science.
* MS Office; particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel .
