POSITION SUMMARY
The Risk and Underwriting Lead Analyst will be responsible for all underwriting activities in supporting Sales and Account Management (SAM) for renewing and new sale opportunities. The Analyst will develop client-specific underwriting and product positioning strategies. The Analyst will assist in the presentation and negotiation of client deals. The Analyst will also provide analytical support for all ad hoc analyses with a potential financial impact (e.g., evaluating a change in formulary or network). The Analyst will be required to gain in-depth knowledge of the PBM Industry and ESI-specific underwriting methods. The Analyst will be required to follow the targets and guidelines provided by ESIs Pricing Governance Team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Develop client-specific underwriting strategies for competitive offers in the marketplace.
* Provide analytical support to SAM for all ad hoc analyses which have a potential financial impact.
* Support Senior Leadership in business management through understanding margin and performance drivers.
* Negotiate and manage the set-up of a clients contract to ensure compliance with financial terms and conditions.
* Work collaboratively with internal partners to ensure our financial offers are in alignment with guidelines.
* Develop strategic recommendations related to market competition, products, services and financials.
* Participate in department and company projects/initiatives.
* Influence underwriting and financial modeling best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting.
* 2+ years of relevant financial/analytical experience.
* Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, financial modeling skills a plus.
* Strong decision making and negotiation skills.
* Strong written/verbal communication skills.
* Self-starter; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Knowledge and/or experience in PBM or Healthcare industry preferred.
