Services are delivered 24/7 by proficient, skilled staff with an operational and service management focus.
Remote Hands is provided to customers who are requesting the services of an onsite technician acting as the hands and eyes on the requestors behalf.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The below responsibilities are to be performed as instructed and with minimal supervision:
Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage if applicable.
Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management.
Prepare, coordinate, and receive incoming shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received. Receipt SRM.
Perform remote hands support e.g. power cycles, physical equipment and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, testing of copper and fiber cables, handle storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands.
Perform hardware installations rack / stack.
Perform cable installations (routing, terminating) and testing.
Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting.
Support ServiceNow processes (e.g. Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets.
Support Power Maintenance Events (PME) - participate in the preparation and perform assigned tasks as instructed.
Track and maintain adequate sparing levels.
Perform physical audits and ensure the ServiceNow database is updated and accurate.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to learn new technologies with an interest in expanding and applying this knowledge as new emerge.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
General understanding of cabling best practices (EIA/TIA-568 standards).
General IT hardware skills (HP, Cisco, etc.).
General knowledge of network cabling diagnostics and testing practices.
General understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts e.g. TCIP, switches, routers, vLANs.
General understanding of the concepts of electrical theory with respect to hardware installations e.g. single phase, 3 phase, amperage, receptacle types.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
