A role in External Financial Reporting calls on your skills for quality financial reporting, accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise, and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target’s business initiatives and core retail operations.
As a Senior Accountant - External Financial Reporting, you will:
Prepare journal entries, reporting and expense analyses related to share-based compensation
Provide forecast share-based compensation expense and the related income tax impacts to Corporate Financial Planning and Income Tax
Work closely with the Executive Compensation and Legal departments on share-based compensation projects and initiatives to assess accounting impacts
Perform accounting research and interpret guidance to determine implications on internal and external financial reporting
Work with internal and external audit teams to complete their procedures related to internal controls and financial reporting
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, footnotes and MD&A to shareholders and the SEC
Prepare supporting schedules for the Proxy statement
Draft share-based compensation disclosures for statutory financial statements of Target’s subsidiaries
Develop, propose and implement improvements to increase efficiency in accounting processes and reporting
Coordinate/undertake special projects as assigned
Maintain flexibility, awareness and understanding of internal and external reporting issues to function as a backup for other department processes
Leverage technology and other resources to improve processes or automate tasks
About you:
Four-year degree in Accounting and 3-6 years of related experience
CPA or similar designation
Strong knowledge of the requirements of GAAP accounting standards and SOX requirements
Strong project management skills
Experience with process improvement and automation
Strong technical and analytical aptitude translating accounting guidance into practical business advice
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong digital acumen
