The duties and responsibilities of the Mammography Technologist include but are not limited to:

* Obtains quality mammograms with the ability to adapt to specific patient morphology.

* Complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment. Operates radiographic equipment safely and competently.

* Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.

* Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.

* Prepares examination rooms for mammography procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.

* Demonstrates knowledge of quality assurance and assists the supervisor in the implementation and documentation of all policies and procedures mandated by the FDA through MQSA.

* Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. markers on images, technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation, etc.) at workstation. Completes verification process in PACS.

* Demonstrates willingness to assist in additional duties such as film and report filing and answering the telephone when appropriate.

* Completes and maintains educational requirements.

* Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED: None

PREFERRED: One-year as a staff Mammography Technologist

EDUCATION

REQUIRED: Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (Required or Preferred)

American Registry of Radiologic Technology (required)

ARRT - Mammography Certification (required)

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
