The Automation Operator is responsible for executing complex oilfield automation tasks, under general supervision, with a focus on troubleshooting and optimizing sophisticated systems. The role involves collaborating with diverse stakeholders to implement and maintain advanced automation equipment, determining comprehensive requirements for cutting-edge communication and automation equipment, and configuring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) to industry-leading standards. The role oversees contractors, supports detailed project scopes, troubleshoots complex technical issues, contributes to advanced technology integration in the oilfield, assists in training lower-level employees, and serves as a field-wide contact during emergencies, ensuring effective response and coordination. The role plays a crucial part in supporting the professional development of lower-level employees through orientation and training, leveraging expertise to enhance their skills. The role also actively maintains field-wide contact during emergencies or significant events, ensuring seamless communication and coordination for optimal response.

• Performs complex oilfield automation tasks under general supervision, specializing in troubleshooting to optimize sophisticated oilfield automation and communication systems.
• Collaborates with field personnel, the automation department, and engineering staff to implement and maintain advanced automation equipment in the field.
• Determines comprehensive requirements, specifications, and provides expert recommendations for cutting-edge communication and automation equipment.
• Configures Programmable Logic Controllers and Remote Terminal Units, ensuring advanced functionality and adherence to industry-leading standards.
• Develops detailed scopes of work to assess intricate automation and communication projects for internal company evaluation and external bidding processes.
• Oversees automation and communication contractors, ensuring meticulous compliance with company standards and project requirements.
• Troubleshoots well site automation and communication equipment with a high level of expertise, addressing complex technical challenges effectively.
• Provides substantial support in the installation and maintenance of advanced automation equipment, contributing to the seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies in the oilfield environment.
• Assists with the orientation and training of lower-level employees, sharing knowledge and expertise to support their professional development.
• Maintains a field-wide contact role, serving as a point of communication for all personnel during emergencies or significant occurrences, ensuring effective response and coordination.

Education:

• High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) is required.

Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in E&P Operations specializing in areas such as Oilfield Automation, Instrumentation, Production Operations, Process Control Device Integration or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.

Certifications:

• ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) (preferred)
• Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) (preferred)
