POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr Security Operations Director is responsible for the overall management and administration of the East Montana Detention Facility. With a total design capacity of 5,000 residents, the facility serves dual operational functions as both a detention facility and humanitarian overflow site. In the event of emergency surge conditions, direct and coordinate facility operations to accommodate different population types while maintaining appropriate security levels and service delivery standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement detention facility policies and operational procedures.
Directs the preparation, planning and implementation of all programs related to security and inmate safety.
Act as liaison between the detention center and designated government agency while supporting Program mission IAW international, USG, Program and PWS (Performance Work Statement) goals and guidelines.
Ensure compliance with standard management practices including but not limited to monitoring, records keeping, report preparation, training, inspections, data reporting, briefings, etc.
Accountable to prepare detailed incident reports, review officer reports for accuracy, and maintain timekeeping records. Maintain detailed records and reports related to detention activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be available for on-call support within two hours to meet with government and program leadership as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Twelve to fifteen (12-15) years of experience related technical environment with five (5) years’ experience in DHS detention center facility operations in a leadership role with reporting accountabilities.
Must be familiar with current global, US, Program and PWS requirements
In-depth knowledge of detention facility regulations, detention program objectives, policies, and national detention standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively lead staff, interact with detainees, and prepare accurate reports.
The ability to motivate and manage a team, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, and possess a government security clearance.
Ability to travel as needed
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS
Primarily on-site within a secure facility area.
Requires walking, standing, and occasional exposure to challenging situations.
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
