Job Objective:

The Technical Application Specialist ensures the reliability and optimization of business-critical software within the Land, Midstream, and Information Management landscapes. Serving as the primary technical expert for this portfolio, you will resolve complex system issues, minimize downtime, and enhance the end-user experience. This hands-on technical role requires a thorough, detail-oriented problem-solver with advanced expertise in database querying, scripting, and full-stack troubleshooting.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Technical Support: Deliver Tier 1–3 support, coordinating with vendors and internal teams for rapid incident resolution. Eliminate problems through root cause analysis and learning from incidents
System Monitoring: Oversee application performance, availability, and integrations to ensure 24/7 reliability
Support Data analysis & acquisitions: Firm understanding of the application data models, ability to create and execute data conversion scripts and API calls
Environment Management: Install, configure, and maintain test, staging, and production environments
Technical Leadership: Lead application upgrades, patching, deployments, and cyber-driven initiatives
Data Expertise: Query and extract data to support reporting integrations, maintenance, and data quality
Analytics & AI: Support and provide expertise into using application data for deeper business benefit
Application Admin: Provision user access, modify configuration, provide guidance on application features
Work Management: Manage work within established incident and project tracking frameworks
Continuous Improvement: Modernize the IT landscape to boost operational efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen reliability
Direction: Work with vendors to align future roadmaps to ensure Hilcorp plan for optimal future landscape
Documentation: Maintain practical records of configurations, troubleshooting steps & support procedures
Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation
Supports company vision and mission
Adheres to established work schedule (5 days a week in office), attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings
Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations
Maintain a focus on the success of the teams using the technology

Qualifications:

Five (5) years minimum experience in application support or IT technical support roles
Experience working the full SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
Enterprise application support experience required, with preferred:

Land applications (QLS, QGIS, Enertia or similar)
Marketing / Transportation software (EMK3, TIPS or similar)
Revenue applications (SAP, Enertia or similar)
Document Management applications (Filetrail, Kofax, ThoughtTrace or similar)
Business Analytics platforms (PowerBI, Alteryx, Databricks or similar)

Full Stack Debugging capabilities, spanning:

Strong knowledge of SQL (Oracle and Microsoft)
Scripting tools (PowerShell, Python or similar)
API integrations and monitoring (Postman, SOAPUi, etc.)
Base level knowledge of Networking/Interface support (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN)
Base level knowledge of Servers and authentication (IIS, VMs, SSO)
Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Databricks)

Strong fundamentals using Microsoft Office Suite
Proven ability in diagnosing and solving problems while maintaining patience, professionalism, and courtesy
Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public
Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities with a high degree of accuracy
Transparent communications on status, challenges and progress to ensure people are always up to speed.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Preferred: Any specific training programs or certifications related to the technologies involved (Quorum, Microsoft etc.)
