The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Pilot Laboratory Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Operating pilot web lines to run experiments for New Product Introductions for Abrasive Systems Division
Engaging with product developers, engineers, and other technicians to coordinate and complete runs, and providing data and observation feedback during and after activities
Maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and enhancing the operational safety and efficiency of the pilot lines by identifying and implementing improvement opportunities
Record keeping and communication of technical work and results and contributing to documentation of intellectual property
Following and developing standard operating procedures and process documentation
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (completed and verified prior to start)
One (1) year of experience operating pilot or manufacturing scale equipment (e.g. coaters, extruders, web handling, etc.) in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Certificate or associate’s degree in technical field
3+ years of experience operating coating, extruding, web handling equipment
Proficiency in statistics or analytical software
Proficiency in navigating computer systems: Word, Excel, email, Enovia PLM, SAP
Basic mathematical, coordinating and communication skills

This Role has an on-site working model, with the employees working five (5) days a week in the office at 3M Center, located in Maplewood, MN
