About this role:
We’re seeking a US-based Manager, Payroll to lead and support an exceptional team of payroll specialists across Canada, the US, Mexico, ANZ, the UK, and Germany. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, Global Payroll, you will oversee end-to-end payroll processing and serve as a trusted advisor within a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your authentic self is encouraged and valued. This role offers the opportunity to grow in your management career or step up from a team lead or supervisor role while working closely with global teams in the greater Total Rewards organization, including Compensation, Benefits, and Equity.
What you’ll get to do
Payroll Processing & Coordination
Manage the preparation and delivery of payroll across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with government deadlines and internal controls. Lead audits, investigate discrepancies, and mitigate risk to guarantee payroll accuracy and reliability.
Data Management & Reporting
Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as HR and Finance to conduct deep-dive audits and analyses of payroll and HRIS data. Use data-driven insights to identify trends, support strategic decisions, and lead payroll reporting that meets regulatory and business needs.
Employee & Stakeholder Support
Provide expert guidance on complex payroll and HR policies, particularly in handling escalations and cross-functional projects. Build trusted relationships with leaders and HR partners by fostering a culture of service excellence and operational accountability.
Compliance & Confidentiality
Ensure strict adherence to global payroll compliance standards and data privacy regulations. Partner with Global Payroll leadership to continuously improve control frameworks and audit processes, maintaining operational integrity and mitigating risk.
Team Support & Leadership
Coach and develop your team by promoting cross-functional skills, performance management, and career growth. Drive payroll consistency and process improvements while collaborating globally to meet organizational goals and prepare your team for future success.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Lead initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency, automation, and reporting capabilities. Stay ahead of payroll technology trends and champion new tools and processes that improve the payroll experience and operational performance.
Skills & Experience We Value:
Education:
Post-secondary certification or degree in Payroll or related fields. Project Management certification is a plus.
Professional Experience:
5–7 years of payroll experience managing complex workflows and compliance in multi-country environments. Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll & tax regulations and compliance requirements. Proven track record of leading or supervising global or cross-functional teams, driving excellence and collaboration.
Technical Expertise:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills. Experience with payroll and HRIS systems, preferably Dayforce HCM, including system configuration and optimization.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to simplify complex payroll concepts for diverse audiences. Skilled in building trusted partnerships, resolving escalations diplomatically, and mentoring teams.
Confidentiality & Integrity:
Unwavering commitment to data privacy and ethical handling of sensitive payroll information. Demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion across multiple jurisdictions.
Organizational & Analytical Skills:
Excellent prioritization and organizational abilities to manage a fast-paced workload across multiple time zones, with a keen eye for detail and analytical problem-solving.
Global Collaboration:
Experience working in multi-country payroll settings, adept at navigating regulatory complexities and cultural nuances. Strong cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills.
