SENIOR SCIENTIST – GLOBAL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
ROCHESTER HILLS, MICHIGAN

As a member of the Global Product Development team, the Senior Scientist will be responsible for formulating, applying, testing, and managing leather finish formulations in order to obtain customer(s) product approvals.  The senior scientist will work with Product Development Engineers to ensure leather finishes are meeting color, gloss, and lab performance requirements as well as providing production facilities with the tools and information to make the finished product.  This role will interact with raw material suppliers to evaluate and test new raw materials in leather finish formulations. 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

Formulate, apply, and test leather finishes on both laboratory and production scale.
Manage leather finish formulations globally for specific OEMs and ensure they are meeting performance requirements.
Provide technical support to Product Development Engineers and Production Finishing Managers

Your Qualifications:

Minimum of a B.S. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field.
Coating formulation experience (3-4 years)
Laboratory experience (5 or more years)

Project management experience
Problem solving experience
DOE – Design of Experiments

In addition, this segment offers cybersecurity software; EXO advanced vehicle positioning for automated and autonomous driving applications; roadside modules that communicate real-time traffic information; and cellular protocols for vehicle connectivity, as well as Connexus connectivity products. Further, it provides wireless systems, such as passive entry, remote keyless entry, and dual range/function remote keyless entry systems. The company was founded in 1917 and is headquartered in Southfield, Michigan.
