POSITION OVERVIEW
The Gillespie Shift Leader has overall responsibility for coordinating and managing weave production and associates to meet safety, quality and production goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular and predictable attendance
Complete ownership for the shift; Quality, Safety, and Productivity.
Be actively engaged in Safety processes, including leading Shift evacuation drills, and auding PPE, PIVs, and Walking Working Surfaces.
Drive safety corrective actions with available shift resources.
Sustain safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement culture by performing frequent area walks.
Collaborate with appropriate Associates to develop and implement Associates’ Continuous Skills Development.
Lead Production and Safety Meetings.
Document safety, quality, production, cost, and process information that occur on shift.
Communicate quality concerns and customer complaints.
Give direction to shift personnel, enforce discipline, and assist management with making decisions on rotating out.
Ensure Associates are following all appropriate rules, regulations, best practices, and guidelines.
Ensure Associates’ time is accurate in time keeping system.
Ensure accurate documentation of absences.
Provide Associates feedback in a timely manner, including attendance information.
Provide feedback to Associates in a positive, professional manner to drive continuous skills development and continuous improvement.
Support improvement initiatives, including Safety, Process Improvement, and Productivity initiatives.
Ensure proper production paperwork is complete and accurate.
Read, understand, communicate, and ensure safe, effective implementation of directions in communications such as Work Instructions and Emails.
Actively support Associates’ efforts troubleshooting equipment and process opportunities.
Ensure shift is properly manned, call in associates as needed.
Able to run equipment in the event associates are out and replacements are unavailable.
Maintain house-keeping for the entire plant; assign associates as necessary for clean- up.
Use current computer software and hardware to include SAP.
Perform standard layered audits and general safety walk through audits.
Responsible for the general safety and wellbeing of the team; must understand all safety rules and policies and apply equitably.
Organize and lead safety incident investigations.
Give direction to shop personnel.
Ensure associates are properly trained and certified for their respective jobs; assist with scheduling retraining when applicable.
Assist with shipping and receiving when necessary.
Lead projects as assigned by management and present progress as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Good technical or process knowledge as it applies to the facility
Minimum education level of High School or GED
Be at the top pay rate for current location within the job classification the associate is currently assigned (internal candidates only)
Associates on support or entry level jobs will not be considered (Internal candidates only)
Must be able to lead team and shift meetings
Able to achieve results through others
Must be able to work the required schedule including rotating shifts
Ability to make sound, logical decisions
