Job Summary
This intermediate level position prepares accounting reports and analyzes accounting information in order to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other accounting information.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Reviews and organizes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Prepares month-end closing process procedures and prepares consolidated financial statement information for executive management, outside auditors and other stakeholders
Prepares analyses of monthly general ledger activity, journal entries and reconciliation of various general accounting accounts
Assist with preparation of external financial statements and other documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory agencies
Complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC rules and regulations
Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations in order to provide advice to management
Uses the chart of accounts and codes entries to proper accounts
Provides information to other employees and/or departments
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
Moderate understanding of GAAP, accounting codification and SEC rules and regulations
Moderate knowledge of and ability to apply professional accounting principles, theories, concepts and terms
Moderate knowledge of spreadsheets, database software and the automated accounting system used in the department
Moderate knowledge of the structure, policies and operating details of the accounting system
Ability to acquire knowledge of specialized procedures and subject matter encountered in specific assignments
Ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts and prepare reports and statements
Education
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance or related field
Preferred: CPA certification
Experience
Minimum: 2 - 5 years related work experience
