Our Strategic Communications team in Bellevue, WA is seeking a summer intern for 2025 to support the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies built around inclusive and meaningful participation.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

Participate in team meetings and strategy discussions

Provide communications and community engagement support for various projects

Assist with research and preparation of presentations and communications

Support content creation of strategic communications materials, templates, presentations, and SharePoint Site

Engage in remote and/or in-person events including community outreach events, stakeholder meetings, and open houses.

Work with public agencies in Washington State to gain experience in client relations

What You’ll Do:

Performs a variety of tasks which may be specific to a particular functional area of activity such as preparing reports, tracking and evaluating results, coordinating program developments, answering the phone, receiving messages, transmitting information, making copies, editing documents, handling routine inquires and making appointments.

Participates in meetings and interfaces with various teams.

Assists management in analyzing various data.

Works on special projects and provides research as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program

What You’ll Bring:

Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communications skills

Interest in transportation and infrastructure

Desire to engage with communities and promote equity in public involvement

Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time

What We Prefer:

Junior and senior currently enrolled in a full-time or four-year accredited college/university in one of the following degree programs: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Planning, Marketing, or other related field of study

Has a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation? Ability to occasionally work weekends and nights for community fairs, events, and festivals

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

Graphic design experience

Multi-lingual is a plus!
