Basic Job Functions:
The Emergency Medical Technician will work as the shift safety technician to ensure the safety and security of Nucor Steel West Virginia and its teammates. Responsibilities include but are not limited to inspecting and maintaining safety equipment; responding to fire alarms; assisting in safety training; conducting teammate health monitoring (drug testing); responding to incidents and emergencies on-site and providing treatment; stocking and cleaning trauma stations; and testing and checking fire equipment. This position will also serve as a member of the Emergency Medical Team and High Angle/Confined Space Rescue Team. This position requires direct supervision of a licensed physician, and the selected teammate (candidate) must be approved and remain in good standing following West Virginia state guidelines.
This position works a 12-hour rotating shift, scheduled/unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays, and weekends, in a construction/industrial environment.
Starting Hourly Rate: 26.68 (Compensation range varies based on experience.)
Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steel making capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. The EMT will have the opportunity to help establish the foundation for EMS/Safety practices and culture at this advanced manufacturing facility in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains near both Huntington and Charleston, WV.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Current, Unrestricted West Virginia EMT License
Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years’ experience serving in an EMT position in a 911 setting

The Raw Materials segment produces direct reduced iron (DRI); processes ferrous and nonferrous metals; brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, DRI, and hot briquetted iron; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, as well as engages in the natural gas drilling operations. This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.
