About you and this role

The ES&S Technician will provide hands-on security role and emergency services activities at the Elizabethtown site. This position also shares with the EH&S Specialist the responsibility for the implementation of the ES&S management system (work processes, standards, procedures) in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate.

Requires established basic ES&S skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing standard ES&S procedures. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities

Responsible for covering the role of a security guard
Monitor security cameras
Monitor gatehouse alarms and respond appropriately
Monitor weather and make severe weather announcements as needed
Notify on-call contacts for incidents and alarms
Maintain gate access system and make badges for employees
Maintain perimeter gates and fence line
Works with all security personnel in the preparation of secure asset plans and the development of operating discipline to execute secure asset tasks.
Verify background check, drug screen, and other access requirements
Receive, orient, indoctrinate, and assist visitors, delivery and pickup drivers
Make and issue permanent badges to employees and nested contractors
Coordinate accountability for evacuations and shelter in place events
Communicate incident notifications as required (phone and email)
Responsible acting as an emergency responder in the event of an incident
Provides coverage as the incident commander across the site
Trained and responsible for confine space rescue and hazmat responses
Adhere to case management practices provided by site nurse
Respond to incidents, determine responses, and notifications (fire, spill, injury, etc.)
Investigate alarms (panic, man down, intruder, fire, smoke, O2 alarms, etc.)
Investigate odor reports and conduct on scene root cause identification
Use Lower explosive limit/Volatile organic compound (LEL/VOC) meter to monitor for leaks and/or exposure concerns
Act as site rep/contact for ES&S equipment contract technicians
Report ES&S equipment failures via work notification system
ES&S inspections (deluge systems, fire apparatus, fire doors, fire extinguishers, monitor nozzles, portable eyebaths, PIV’s, curb valves, and medical equipment
Operates emergency response equipment
Enacts emergency response plans
Executes the applicable scenarios from the emergency response plan or the alternate response plan and use operating discipline to complete the response to the emergency

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Able to work overtime as needed.
Must have a valid, current US Driver’s License
Must be able to rotate shifts between nights and day  
18 years of age or older.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

Lift, push, and pull.

Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
Stand and walk for extended periods of time
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Work in tight and closed in spaces.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a full-face respirator, SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

Preferred Qualifications

1 or more years of experience working in a security role. 
Relevant military experience.
Experience as an emergency responder or EMT.
Certified in CPR, First Aid, & AED.
Confine Space Rescue training or certification.
