The printed electronics technology development group is looking for a curious, enthusiastic mechanical engineer to contribute to our interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate demonstrates mechanical aptitude with a unique combination of programming experience (python or JavaScript), exposure to laser optics assemblies, experience with additive manufacturing technologies, CNC, or motion control software, and a desire for hands-on assignments dealing with equipment and processes. In this role, you will assist in developing technology readiness through a slate of R&D projects under the technical guidance of higher-level engineers. You will devise and execute experiments that will progress the body of knowledge related to product fit, form, and function, progressive additive manufacturing approaches, and process evaluation. You will be relied upon to master the use of numerous manufacturing machines and will champion the execution of test schedules to meet project needs.
Responsibilities:
Entry-Level Engineering Tasks: Undertake routine engineering functions for assigned projects or sub-projects of a general nature with limited scope. Apply standard mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies.
Design and Project Support: Collaborate in the design and project/process management of new and ongoing projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under the technical guidance of higher-level engineers or departmental management.
Procedure Development: Contribute to establishing operational procedures for new products and components.
Testing and Evaluation: Assist in developing test procedures and conducting routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product/project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation tasks.
Report Preparation and Improvement Recommendations: Generate evaluation reports, analyze discrepancies, and offer recommendations for enhancing productivity quality and reducing flow time to products, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing/operating processes.
Documentation and Equipment Acquisition: Assist in preparing product/project definitions, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and test equipment designs. Define and procure tooling, gauging, and equipment to ensure product quality.
Collaboration and Issue Resolution: Interact with design agencies, suppliers, and internal departments to help resolve design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
Technical Support: Provide technical assistance in the assigned field as needed.
Technology Assessment: Evaluate and make recommendations regarding technological advancements that can improve productivity, enhance quality, reduce flow time, and ensure operational reliability.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as required.
