Buyer II negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines

Responsibilities

Performs all duties associated with the buying process.
Researches products, prepares purchase orders and places orders, and selects vendors.
Organizes product information, and tracks back orders.
Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply.
Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers, and schedules deliveries.
Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.
Comply with GD-OTS corporate, business unit policies and procedures as well as applicable government regulations and laws.
May participate in process improvement and/or Six Sigma teams.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
2-4 years of relevant experience; Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education & Experience

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
