The Underwriting Assistant role with Pacific Gateway Insurance will assist underwriters by entering information into rating software, prepare accounts, review, and process endorsements and/or handle renewal underwriting activity. May serve as quality assurance technician. Communicates with agents for missing information, signed documentation and clarification of various items on behalf of the underwriters.

This position will be in Valencia, California, and is hybrid but most be in office on Mondays and Wednesdays.

What will you do?

Identifies and/or reviews proper classification of risk, potentially entering the risk into the rating software.
Requests updated information from agents such as driver’s lists, stated values, building values, building ages, construction types, and other risk exposures.
Communicates with agents and brokers via email or phone with information requests or verifications as necessary.
May verify in the Agency Management System (AMS) that the appropriate producer licenses are in place for the risks quoted.
May participate in the research and evaluation process required to identify where new computer applications and software would provide better information and/or make workflow easier and more efficient.

What are we looking for?

High school diploma or GED or equivalent AND two years college or equivalent
One or more years work related experience.
Basic math, rating
Experience with basic personal computer related software such as Microsoft Suite products.
Prefer insurance related courses such as CPCU, IIA, or AU
California Property and Casualty license will be required to get upon hire if do not already have.
