Job Summary
This experienced level position works in the income tax area supporting the federal and state tax returns, ASC 740 tax provision, and other tax reporting and activities as required. This position will report to the Director – Income Tax and be a part of a seasoned in-house team that handles the full life cycle of income taxes. Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Preparation of workpapers computing various book-to-tax differences, is already familiar with many common differences and quick to learn others
• Responsible for maintenance of fixed asset tax depreciation, depletion, and amortization schedules
• Prepares state apportionment calculations, and other state specific computations as needed
• Prepares federal and/or state tax estimates, extensions, and returns
• Ensures tax work is conducted in accordance with internal controls
• Assists with responses to notices from federal and state authorities
• Assists with tax modeling and forecasting
• Assists in determining the impact of new tax laws and regulations
• Collaborates with counterparts in corporate accounting, and other elements of the company in order to understand the underlying business activity and how it is being accounted for
• Attends trainings, both self-study and group-study
Job Specific Skills
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Working knowledge of tax codes and rules relevant to corporate income tax
• Ability to conduct basic to medium level tax research
• Working knowledge of any common tax software
• Experience with data transforming, automation, and visualization tools such as Alterx or PowerBI is a plus
Education
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance or related field
Preferred: Other - CPA
