The Insurance Data Analyst or Insurance Data Analyst Supervisor will serve as a “Lead” to coordinate certain activities of several insurance and reinsurance operations and/or contracted insurance programs within the responsibilities of the Insurance Data Management Unit. The activities include but are not limited to insurance data collection, data transfers, data manipulation and/or analysis, accounting, cash activity, financial and statistical reporting) of one or more current categories of Unit responsibility. Proposes, develops and implements strategies, in collaboration with other Unit Leads and under direction and review of the Manager/Administrator, to coordinate activities and accomplish goals effectively and efficiently. Reviews or completes special reports required by States or agencies and compiles data for Finance personnel, Berkshire Hathaway Corporate personnel, actuaries, auditors, examiners and Company managers. .
This position will be with National Indemnity Company in Omaha, NE, and has the ability to be hybrid after a period of training and at management discretion.
What will you do?
Coordinates Unit activities such as data collection, capture, storage, retrieval and/or manipulation for assigned categories of Unit responsibilities.
Analyzes system requirements, coding, reports and information sharing related to assigned categories of Unit responsibility.
Receives, evaluates and/or manipulates information related to the assigned category of Unit responsibility. Evaluates current and anticipated workflow and explains to Unit Manager/Administrator why additional resources may be required.
May coordinate cash activities related to assigned categories of Unit responsibility. Recommends and develops procedures for approval to track premiums receivable, claims payable and other cash activities.
May coordinate handling of inter-company accounting related to multi-company programs that must be processed and reported by a specific company issuing the program policies.
May complete special reports required by States or agencies by analyzing States’ or agencies’ requirements, determining data requirements, assessing and gathering data from appropriate source and compiling information to send to States or agencies.
May prepare insurance information schedules, including premium , loss and reserve summaries, paid loss, reserve and incurred developments, and historic and current summaries of companies’ insurance data for review and use by company senior managers, BH Corporate, department managers, tax specialists, actuaries, examiners and IRS personnel for BH 10K reporting, management, tax, actuarial, audit and examination purposes.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor degree with major in accounting, math, computer science, business, MIS, or equivalent
Personal computer and related software such as Excel, Access, and Visual Basic, spreadsheet and database application development
2-3 years related work experience
Would prefer accounting workflow analysis and automated accounting systems development proficiency.
Would prefer insurance and reinsurance statutory accounting and operations knowledge
