The Role

Do you want to make a difference in our internal associates lives and be part of a highly collaborative, multi-functional team of expert engineers building the next generation of desktop functionality and workflow processing applications for the Fidelity Institutional (FI) business unit?

We are looking for a Principal Full Stack Software Engineer [this is a full stack role that will have an emphasis on front end development] to join one of our Next gen UI development team that will play a key role and will be responsible for designing, developing web applications, RESTful APIs and integrating them with workflow processing systems using the latest frameworks, technologies, and toolsets. The engineer will also work with other application teams to guide them to deliver scalable, reliable, efficient, and performant applications based on sound engineering practices and principles. And collaborate with the desktop container team to design, build and deliver new functionality to improve the platform.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information System, or a related field.

8 years of demonstrated ability building Rich Internet Applications (RIA) and RESTful services using agile development practices.

Proven record of designing and building sophisticated end-to-end systems (full stack development).

Strong experience building Single Page Applications (SPAs) and reusable web component using Angular framework, NgRx, Storybook, AG Grid, and bootstrap.

Strong experience designing and developing RESTful services using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Swagger, Docker, YAML, JSON.

Experience with object-oriented programming principles and standard design patterns.

Passionate about writing clean, testable, readable, and easily maintainable code with a test-first development approach.

Experience with building and maintaining unit tests and mock services using Jest, JUnit, Mockito unit testing framework.

Experience with developing and running end to end automation test scripts using like Cucumber, Serenity, Chrome driver, Cypress.

Experience with source code and project administration tools such as GIT, JIRA.

Experience working with CICD pipeline, EKS, Docker, Jenkins, Udeploy, Terraform, Datadog, and Sonar.

Experience with workflow processing system, AWS cloud services and Openfin is a plus.

Financial/brokerage industry experience is a plus.

The Nextgen brokerage UI centric teams are working on bringing rich workflow processing tools that can provide efficient, meaningful user experiences to our associates to better serve our Fidelity Institutional clients. You will be joining a team of highly motivated and passionate engineers to help drive the technology and support the business to deliver high quality solutions.

History of Fidelity Investments

The Fidelity Fund was established in 1930, a year after the stock market crash of 1929 and before the Great Depression of 1933. The fund continued to operate until 1943 when it was acquired by Boston-based lawyer Edward C. Johnson II. At the time, the fund reported assets under management valued at $3 million. In 1946, Johnson II founded the Fidelity Management and Research Company, now Fidelity Investments, to serve as an investment advisor to the Fidelity Fund. When running the fund, Johnson’s objective was to buy stocks with a potential for growth, and not necessarily blue-chip stocks.
