Job Description

Job Summary

This senior level position is considered a team lead that coordinates with other departments as needed to resolve difficult problems and provide complex technical support in order to assist with engineering operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Performs data management activities, which include loading/entering, verifying, manipulating, analyzing, and reporting data related to engineering operations
Mentors and trains less experienced technicians
Provides user support for software systems to other technical support and professional personnel, which may include installation and maintenance of software and troubleshooting user issues
May serve as liaison to corporate Information Systems personnel for more complex problems
Performs engineering calculations and preliminary analyses for interpretation of data
Performs selection, analyses, and interpretation of technical data
Performs advanced data analysis and makes recommendations based on interpretation of data
Recommends design improvements using complex, but established procedures
Provides intermediate-level discipline-specific training to new systems users
Monitors and recommends new technologies and applications
Coordinates data transfer and updates shared data sources among departments
Utilizes software to discover trends in operational data and reports
Applies skills and concepts to ensure data integrity, data reliability, and data accessibility throughout the group
Compiles data, communicates, and provides information to engineers
May maintain project management control over certain data bases and processes which may include an assigned geographic area in which all activity and evaluations are handled by the senior engineering tech
Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specific Skills

Advanced ability to use rigorous logic, critical thinking skills, and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
Advanced ability to build numerical and analytical tools using standard industry and corporate software
Advanced knowledge of Drilling, Completion, and Workover reports
Advanced knowledge of PC/mainframe systems
Advanced knowledge of database application software
Specialized knowledge of engineering support disciplines

Education

Minimum: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering Technology, Math, Science, or related field

Experience

Minimum: 8 - 12 years related work experience
