The Role at a Glance

This newly created, remote role is a key position in our transformation efforts. Focused on helping build and grow high functioning Agile development teams, this role will have direct management accountability of technical resources within our Life Underwriting Value Stream. This Value Stream has a heavy focus on building and maintaining web-based self-service solutions and capabilities for Lincoln’s flagship line of business. This role will help develop and drive IT best practices, strategy and dev ops maturity. Candidates should have experience managing people and guiding development in cloud-based environments, possess a background in AWS, API solutions and full stack engineering. Technical knowledge will be critical and therefore the ideal candidate should possess high technical acumen in technologies utilized, as listed below.  

What you'll be doing

Manage a Value Stream of T-shaped Agile teams, consisting primarily of full-stack engineers working in the following technologies: AWS, API (REST) solutions and full stack engineering (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular 2+ to build a modern frontend and leveraging Java, Spring Boot in building a reliable backend).? 
Communicate expertly across all levels of the organization. 
Prioritize technical only work and technical debt reduction appropriately; effectively negotiates and manages competing priorities. 
Metrics and reporting to inform on both operational and technical effectiveness. 
Collaborates effectively with other Chapter Leads and lines of business. 
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions. 
Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the department for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent. 
Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

What we’re looking for

4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) (Minimum Required).
7+ Years experience in Information Technology that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience. (Required). 
Certifications: ?AWS certification desired but not required.
