DuPont Water & Protection is looking for a Machine Safety professional to support its Kevlar®, Nomex® and Tyvek® operations.  This position will be located at the DuPont Spruance Site in Richmond, VA.

The successful candidate will provide oversight, guidance, competency, and leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and DuPont Corporate Standards, with regards to machine design, operation, and maintenance.  This role will lead, monitor, audit, and provide the site with engineering solutions to eliminate, reduce, and guard against personnel exposure to machine hazards and to achieve Plant safety goals and objectives.  This role will report to the Spruance Site EHS Leader.

Qualifications:

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar required

5-10 years of manufacturing or related experience required

Knowledge of machine design, operation and maintenance

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain a documented site machine safety program

Ensure machine hazards are included in operating and maintenance procedures

Assist in site projects to help ensure that machine systems are designed using engineering solutions to minimize hazards.

Ensure employees are trained in the residual hazards and the operating modes of safeguarding and safety functions of the machines.

Conduct and review machine safety risk assessments and develop engineering solutions to improve machine safety (physical guarding, safety functions)

Maintain and keep technology files current

Ensure reliability of the machines safety devices and functions by ensuring tests and inspections are completed

Be part of pre-start-up safety reviews in case of MOC-processes or new equipment installation

Participating in all site machine incident and high potential near miss investigations

Participating on the business and/or region machine safety team appropriate for the site to leverage and share information related to machine safety.

Perform audits to verify compliance

Capabili ties Required for this Role (Knowledge Skills & Abilities):

BS in Engineering discipline with Mechanical Engineering preferred

Five (5) to ten (10) years of industry experience

Experience in high hazard chemical process manufacturing environments preferred

In depth knowledge of machine design, operation, and maintenance

Understanding of hazards associated with machinery as well as related safety protocols such as lockout tagout, electrical safety, etc.

Knowledge of machine related industry standards and local regulations

Strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills

Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Strong influence leadership to achieve robust, sustained systems, and processes that support compliance

Communicate effectively, orally (public speaking) and in writing to audiences at all levels within DuPont and sometimes to external agencies.

Auditing skills

Experience in coaching, training, networking and facilitation

The ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
