Job Description

The purpose of the Delrin® Mechanical Integrity Technician – MDG & MIQA Support Role is to specifically support our Washington Works (WW) – Delrin® Plant located in Washington, WV. This role is a vital support role to our WW Mechanical Development Group (MDG) and Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance (MIQA) teams. The Mechanical Integrity Reliability Technician will provide daily  technical support and guidance for Delrin® equipment inspections and welding standards by utilizing an extensive knowledge of NDE techniques. The successful candidate will be able to assess equipment condition, perform weld inspections, assist in the design of equipment, and provide field support throughout our WW Delrin® plant.

This job is to be a Monday – Friday non-exempt role which has a minimum time commitment of 3 years from job placement.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Inspect Equipment to National Standards including:

Identify damaged equipment, mechanisms and apply appropriate inspection techniques throughout.
Correctly classify inspection findings as indications or defects in accordance with national standards.
Make appropriate recommendations from inspection findings.
Prepare written inspection reports to document clear and accurate findings to thoroughly communicate as found equipment conditions and any corrective actions to repair the asset.
Provide technical support to the business units and assist in developing procedures and techniques for more efficiency.

Specify Repair Scopes and Techniques including:

Determine the condition of equipment scheduled for routine inspections throughout.
Determine the extent of any equipment damage to prescribe required or recommended repairs.
Provide technical directions for any welding requirements such as: filler metal, process, post- weld heat treatment, etc.
Review repair documentation such as: material certifications, Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder Performance Qualifications, repair drawings, welding travelers, heat treatment records, nondestructive examination reports, etc.
Inspect repair corrective actions for compliance to national standards and repair scopes.
Provide technical support to the Delrin® area and assist in developing procedures and techniques to improve efficiency of assets throughout.

The successful candidate will be required to pass & maintain nationally recognized certifications as follows:

American Society for Nondestructive Testing Visual Testing Level II or American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector
American Society for Nondestructive Testing Liquid Penetrant Testing Level II
American Society for Nondestructive Testing Ultrasonic Thickness Testing Level II
American Society for Nondestructive Testing Eddy Current Level II
EPRI IRIS inspection method
API 510, API 570, and API 653 certifications

General Planning and Scheduling Roles and Responsibilities:

Assist to plan jobs, repairs, create routine & non-routine job plans, to document and assist with having them added to the maintenance management (CCMS) system.
Reviews job priorities or completion dates to assure they are realistic. If the priorities seem unrealistic, you will need to negotiate task priority and resources through job completion.
Ensures proper documentation has been provided and properly planned for DuPont maintenance or contracted vendors to perform work.
Assists to manage a backlog of work for Delrin® welders with a minimum of a 4 week look ahead.
Assists to manage Delrin® welders and Maintenance Coordinators through an annual shutdown/turnaround.
Monitors inspection metrics/reports to ensure work advances through the planning and execution stages.

Qualifications – Minimum Requirements:

The minimum qualifications to be a qualified Delrin® Mechanical Integrity Technician
High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
2-year trade school or college or equivalent industrial work experience.
Possess basic computer application skills such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Able and expected to lift ~ 55 lbs. of equipment when required. i.e., testing equipment, tools, etc.
Able and expected to: climb, work at heights, in confined spaces and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), i.e., respirator, chemical suit, etc.
Able and expected to work overtime, including holidays, weekends and on short notice call-in if required.
Able and expected to pass and maintain with or without corrective lens a near vision acuity Jaeger J2 vision test at 12-17 inches as well as a color perception test.
Have proven examples of good organizational skills to prioritize workload(s) throughout.
Possess good communication skills. Verbal to communicate and train. Written to provide good direction, instruction, and turnover.
Flexibility to be available on urgent work and flex work schedule if needed.
Ability to self-start and work autonomously.

Preferred Attributes:

Experience in the chemical industry as a chemical operator or maintenance with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

High Hazard chemical process plant maintenance experience.
Radiographic film interpretation.
Welding experience.
Technical writing experience.
Fixed equipment inspection experience.
Some / all National certifications as listed in the strategic job description section.
