General Summary:
Qualcomm is taking its traditional strengths in digital wireless technologies in exciting new fields such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
At Qualcomm XR Research San Diego, we are a passionate team of engineers who want to change the world through virtual and augmented reality products and technologies. The XR Perception R&D Data Collection team in San Diego supports the validation and training of perception-based algorithm though the collection of relevant data in different scenarios and with different XR devices. Team members will interact closely with systems engineers and software developers to understand the types of data needs for a particular feature. The team will then organize data collection campaigns and setup the equipment necessary to carry out the collection activities. Team members can also expect to travel to local and in-state locations to cater to the diversity of collection environments needed by the engineering teams.
The XR Perception R&D Data Collection support engineer must have a good understanding of Augmented/Virtual Reality use cases and devices. Candidates must be able to setup and operate complex motion capture and 3D scanning equipment in order to collect ground truth data. Candidates will be involved in data gathering activities both internally and externally with occasional travel required. They will need to use Windows and Android based tools and applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience with design, development, R&D, or similar experience in Electronics or related area.
The candidate must have the below skill:
Experience with Augmented/Virtual Reality devices and uses (ex. Microsoft Hololens, Meta Quest, Magic Leap and/or others)
Test equipment setup including networking equipment and data collection tools
Data analysis, automation and scripting
Experience working with applications on Windows, Linux and Android
Technical support of lab equipment and test beds
3+ years of industry experience is required.

QUALCOMM Incorporated designs, develops, manufactures, and markets digital communication products worldwide. It operates through three segments: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT); Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL); and Qualcomm Strategic Initiatives (QSI). The QCT segment develops and supplies integrated circuits and system software based on code division multiple access (CDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access, and other technologies for use in wireless voice and data communications, networking, application processing, multimedia, and global positioning system products.
The QTL segment grants licenses or provides rights to use portions of its intellectual property portfolio, which include various patent rights useful in the manufacture and sale of wireless products comprising products implementing CDMA2000, wideband CDMA, CDMA time division duplex, long term evolution, and/or fifth generation standards and their derivatives. The QSI segment invests in early-stage companies in various industries, including automotive, Internet of things, mobile, data center, and healthcare for supporting the design and introduction of new products and services for voice and data communications, and new industry segments.
The company also provides products and services for mobile health; products designed for the implementation of small cells; development, and other services and related products to the United States government agencies and their contractors; and software products, and content and push-to-talk enablement services to wireless operators. In addition, it licenses chipset technology, and products and services for use in data centers. QUALCOMM Incorporated was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in San Diego, California.
