Job Description

Your Responsibilities

As a Product Development Engineer on the Tillage Product Engineering Team for John Deere located in Ankeny, IA, you will provide technical leadership and design solutions for Tillage EPDP/New Product Development and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects.  In addition, you will:

Develop possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. 
Compile necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design.
Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations.
Analyze design requirements and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope.

What Skills You Need

Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
Skill in using company information systems and processes.
Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as tillage product knowledge.
Fundamental understanding of tillage machine forms. Knowledge/familiarity with tillage products manufactured by competitors.
Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP) or similar processes.

What Makes You Stand Out

Advanced engineering or business degree
Training and experience in Systems Engineering
Training and experience in Six Sigma tools
Diverse experience in other areas of product development such as Product Verification & Validation, Quality, Manufacturing, Analysis, etc
Understanding of agricultural practices, John Deere and competitive equipment, and customer requirements

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (4 years or equivalent)
