About you and this role -

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Pipeline Technician located in La Porte, Texas.The Pipeline technician will be responsible for operation and maintenance of pipelines in the Gulf Coast Pipeline system. Responsibilities include instrument/electrical/mechanical backup duties to the existing Pipeline technicians. All incumbents will be expected to answer One-Calls whenever called upon for damage prevention to our pipelines which is one of our key responsibilities. The successful incumbent must be a self-motivated, self-starter who is comfortable working alone as well as in a group environment. Job is physically demanding. The facilities are operated under the rules and regulations of the Railroad Commission of Texas.

Responsibilities –

Starting / stopping pumps and initiating Product Movements as requested by the business.
Overseeing contract maintenance crews.
Protecting Dow's pipelines during third party excavation activities.
Performing routine valve and Right of Way maintenance requirements.
Assisting with monthly and bi-annual calibration of station instrumentation.
Assisting with projects and project personnel, which may include decommissioning and re-commissioning of systems at the facility or on the Pipelines.
Assisting with calibration of pay meters and related equipment.
Interfacing with the private landowners, public officials, and vendor plant contact.
Handling and processing LOTO and Safe Work Permits.
Developing/owning Operating and Maintenance Procedures.
Performing routine station checks and inspections.
Attendance and participation at team meetings, safety meetings, and EH&S program.
Complete required training (job procedures, training modules.
Participating on our rotating Call Duty program is a requirement. Expect daily travel requirements normally within area of responsibility and to other areas within the team boundaries as needed. Normal work hours are 8-hour days Monday through Friday, or flexible within company and department guidelines.
General computer skills including ability to read e-mails, acknowledge MOC's, develop procedures, complete expense reports, access pipeline data, etc.

Required Qualifications –

High School Diploma or GED as a minimum.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Maintenance or Operations role within an industrial environment.
Willing and able to report to the work area within 30 minutes during on-call duty.
Current, valid US driver’s license.
Willing and able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills –

Associate degree or higher in Process Technology or relevant field. In lieu of degree, 3 years or more of military training/experience.
Prior experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment.
Prior pipeline experience.

Additional notes –

This position does not offer relocation assistance.
This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
