Job Objective:
Team Lead for the Company’s Accounts Payable function. Trains individuals on various aspects of the Accounts Payable function of various companies and units, including but not limited to National Indemnity Company and the structured settlement unit. Maintains narrative process documentation. Analyzes the Accounts Payable function and work flows in order to identify potential improvements to processes and controls where appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with accounts payable personnel, as well as personnel in the Finance department and other departments to answer questions and investigate and resolve identified errors. Investigates potential fraudulent ACH and check payments and communicates with the appropriate individuals to determine resolution.
Enters data into accounts payable software or gives payment request documentation to Accounting Technicians to enter into software.
Reviews and updates process and control documentation for the Accounts Payable function, including user guides and references.
Coordinates establishment and oversite of new bank account features requested on existing bank accounts – such as Image Positive Pay, ACH Debit Filters, and ARP reconciliations.
Collaborates with other functions within the department, including cash coding and bank reconciliation functions, in order to maintain and improve communication and efficiency of processes across functional areas within the Finance department.
Responsible for maintaining a general understanding of the specific 1099-MISC reporting requirements for various types of payments and payees, annual filing requirements, withholding requirements, and reporting guidelines.
May review daily cash coding assigned to interns by ensuring that each of the accounts have been reconciled to the cash memo, answers questions and assists with research as needed.
Performs special projects such as analysis of current processes and controls to determine process improvements or system upgrades to suggest to Supervisor.
