Provides excellent customer service to agents, insureds, claimant, and others contacting the Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies or the National Indemnity group of insurance companies. Directs callers and emails to the appropriate individual or department. Provides contact information for agents, affiliated companies, etc. as appropriate. Supports various business units by handling daily workflow transactions, including misdirected or returned emails, indexing, submission preparatory work, and basic correspondence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides excellent customer service to agents, insureds, claimants, and others contacting the Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies or the National Indemnity group of insurance companies. Resolves most basic issues and questions. May assist and/or research the needs of callers and route calls or emails to the appropriate department or individual to handle. If appropriate, may provide contact information for Berkshire Hathaway affiliates.
Supports Underwriting departments by processing various submission steps which may include, indexing, preparing resource documents, and assigning priorities according to standardized procedures. May also provide submission status updates to agents via phone and/or email. If appropriate, identify available underwriters to assist on second and third level submission inquiries.
Correct and/or update address and contact information in various systems at the direction of Underwriting and/or Client Services teams.
Process written requests from agents and insureds for copies of policy loss runs in accordance with procedures. Upon request, explain the loss run request process via phone and/or email to agents and/or insureds. Direct calls and emails requesting loss run explanation to the appropriate department.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and additional vocational courses
Basic math
Personal computer and related software
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in business or related field or equivalent
1 to 2 years related work experience
Basic insurance terms and coverages
Type 35 wpm with accuracy
Knowledge of commercial automobile rating and policy coverages and endorsements
