Job Description

Diagnoses problems and performs necessary repairs on machinery and/or related mechanical equipment, and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on rotating, combusting, and turbine equipment.
Assists contract mechanics and manufactures representatives.
Works closely with facility operators and foreman to schedule shutdowns to minimize production loss.
Work closely with maintenance foreman to improve preventive maintenance programs for all mechanical equipment on the facility.
Maintains computer maintenance records (CMMS), for scheduling preventive maintenance on schedule and assesses that the schedule is adequate.
Observes operator’s tour report, equipment performance and lube oil performance reports, in order to detect potential failures before they occur.
Conduct and interpret vibration checks on all major equipment.
Turbines: Replace accessories, change engines, perform progressive, 4000 hour inspections, detergent wash, and perform final driven equipment alignments, seals, bearing capsules.
Will be expected to perform mechanical troubleshooting on turbine control systems.
Personally supervise and/or complete lower end work on large reciprocating equipment.
Maintains complete equipment file and reviews maintenance trends.
Work with Maintenance Foremen and data base administrator to update equipment tasks, based on process/equipment changes to ensure accuracy of CMMS data.
Orders inventory and maintains necessary spare parts for emergency.
Keeps lead mechanic and foreman informed as to schedules and use of equipment.
Works closely with lead operators and facility operators during facility shutdowns and helps with startups.
Any other function deemed necessary by the foreman or lead operator for maintenance of operational function.
Abides by all recognized safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Facilitate learning before, during, and after completion of any job or major activity.
Interaction with Production, Instrument Techs & Electrician to schedule shutdowns to minimize production loss.
Adhere to all safety rules and practices established by Hilcorp Alaska.
Conduct duties in a manner that provides for the utmost protection of the environment.
Report all incidents and near-misses related to personnel, equipment and the environment.
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Participate with other team members to develop ideas to control expenses, enhance safety and improve overall operations.

Supports company vision and mission.
Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Qualifications:

Eight (8) years minimum of oil and gas mechanic experience. 
Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule which includes seven (7) days on and seven (7) days off. 
Requires less supervision, direction, and training in the performance of routine duties. 
Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected. 
Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate machinery/mechanical equipment unsupervised, while maintaining the facility in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations. 
Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist at the facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem. 
Basic mathematic and mechanical skills. 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public. 
Ability to consider safety in all decisions.

Education Requirements:

Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
