Job Description

SUMMARY

The IE&C Manager is responsible for the Instruments, Electrical Systems & Controls function for Lake

Charles North and South Sites. The employee in this role develops, implements, and administers the policies related to instruments, electrical & controls for the site, including the maintenance, reliability, and DCS/APC functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

< >Communicates with subordinates for the significant instrument, electrical & controls activities andgives required instructions.Develops long-term plan to improve reliability IE&C/DCS/APC.Develops a plan to improve the productivity and efficiency of the IE&C/DCS/APC departments.Reviews compliance to safety standards for PSM equipment according to latest ISA-S84 standards.Consults with operations to set priority for IE&C maintenance and reliability engineering service requests, as well as, general I&C field work.Approves the Standard Operation Procedures and the subsequent revisions, submitted byengineers.Approves purchasing requisitions for IE&C department. Reviews quotations from vendors witheach group for equipment as necessary.Prepares yearly cost budget for the IE&C Department. Reviews and controls budget monthly byusing monthly cost reports generated from SAP. Discusses and remediates deviations from the planned budget as required.Reviews cost and post T/A work summaries with IE&C group in an effort to continuously improve outage work.Reviews performance appraisals for IE&C employees annually.Performs special projects as assigned and other coordination activities as required to ensurecost-effective IE&C engineering.Develops long term IE&C plans for site.Champions IE&C capital projects.Works with HR on contractual obligations with the union, participates in monthly union/management meetings and sits on the Lake Charles South disciplinary committee.

Promptly report Safety, Health, or Environmental issues or incidents to management. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

< >Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.B.S./M.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent progressive engineering and maintenance experience.10 years’ experience in instrument and control maintenance for a chemical or petrochemical plant. Prefer 5 years’ experience in VCM, C/A, Derivatives, Ethylene, Polyethylene, Styrene plant, or related processes.Prefer 5+ years of supervisory experience.Demonstrated proficiency in people management, strategic thinking, analysis, and communication.Demonstration of managerial as well as analytical and communication skills. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job is performed primarily in an office setting. Physical presence and predictable attendance are required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires a response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employees must be able to evacuate when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate as primarily based in an office setting. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require the usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also occasionally be exposed to outside elements and may require the usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
