Position Overview:
As the Assistant General Counsel supporting Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. (“Ball Aerospace”), you will be responsible for performing legal functions and providing subject matter expertise for government contracting, data rights, regulatory, and export control and other matters within Ball Aerospace. This position is the lead attorney supporting Ball Aerospace and will regularly interact with Ball Aerospace senior and functional leadership, persuasively advising cross-functional teams, and successfully determining legal and other aspects of key organizational strategic objectives.
Your key responsibilities include:
Lead lawyer supporting Ball Aerospace on government contracting, data rights, regulatory, and export control matters. Maintains expertise in government contracting and export control laws and regulations. Performs some commercial and international legal work.
Provides legal support to Ball Aerospace Contracts, Supply Chain, Compliance, and Accounting departments/functions.
Prepares and/or reviews contracts, subcontracts, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements and other Ball Aerospace agreements.
Manages and leads Ball Aerospace’s Export Compliance function, including supervision of export administrative specialists and the review and approval of export classification determinations and licenses and agreements.
Prepares and provides training in connection with government contracting and export compliance.
Prepares and reviews legal correspondence, forms and agreements.
Supervises and assists outside attorneys in litigation and other matters. An effective project manager and lawyer.
Assists internal clients or customers in their efforts to generate Economic Value Add.
Lead, coach and develop a team through inspiration, connection and achievement.
Provides professional, confidential work product in a timely fashion.
Takes personal responsibility for quality and timeliness and endeavors to continuously improve services and relationships with clients.
Maintains highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and personal ethical behavior and individual responsibility to clients and customers.
Assists clients in maintaining compliance with the law.
Experience and skills required:
Earned a four (4) year undergraduate degree, a three (3) year law degree, and be admitted to a state bar, or local equivalent for locations outside the United States.
Be licensed (or have the eligibility to become licensed) to practice in Colorado.
Must have a top-secret clearance or eligibility for a top-secret clearance.
Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years job-related experience in the respective field of law (Federal Government Contracting).
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of law in broad areas of assignments and lead a team of attorneys/paralegals through inspiration, connection and achieving.
Deep experience in proven written and verbal communication; with strong ability to engage and partner with senior level stakeholders (i.e., C-suite, senior management).
M.B.A. or C.P.A. or equivalent is an asset.
