Job Description

General summary of responsibilities:

Responsible for effective mold changes, start-up of molds and documenting mold change process. Complies with all applicable safety procedures

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Confers with Supervisor to determine molds to be changed and discuss priorities and set up instructions.

Selects and pick up corresponding mold for the new set up according to manufacturing needs and considering bars to be used, length, width and diameter

Lifts molds with finger lift, cranes or other appropriate equipment and positions and secures it to holding device. Follow the appropriate safety procedures.

At the end of production run, cleans molds by using a mold safe spray to prevent corrosion.

During mold change process, set up machines at lowest speed (Set Up Mode).

Installs molds assuring molds are leveled and clamped.

Installs water hoses to molds correctly as instructed.

Sets up molds knockout bars to attain correct knockout movement.

Adjusts machine’s safety bar.

Removes and re-installs all corresponding secondary equipment related to mold set up.

Returns mold removed from machine to assigned area.

Observes company’s rules and regulations such as safety and housekeeping practices. Use PPE as required by company procedures

May have to study blueprints or layouts to visualize requirements.

Other related responsibilities as assigned.

Assures that all necessary secondary equipment is available and inform Supervisor if equipment is not available.

Identifies documentation changes requirements for each mold set up including:  set up procedure, mold water diagrams, road map, process parameters, etc. Informs Supervisor if practice is not aligned with documentation.

Follows Rapid Tool Change Procedures and supports RTC practices and disciplines as instructed by supervisor.

Fills paper work to support: RTC forms, line clearance and any document as required by supervisor.

Must be available to work during the regular week, weekends, and / or holidays as required by manufacturing schedules or his supervisor.

Available to work over time when required by his supervisor. Observes all company rules, regulations, and procedures such as safety and housekeeping (6’s).

Maintains working area clean, organized and safe.

Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices.

Complies with Good Documentation Practices.

Follow rules that apply to clean room.

Responsible that his/her payroll clock punch is registered before entering or leaving, following and accepting company payroll policies.

Responsible of performing as per Job Description’s SOP’s and work instructions.

Attends all requested training or company meetings.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Knowledge of industrial mechanics.
Minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment on a plastic industry, preferably.
Formal training in GMP, ISO 9000, RTC and safety.
Fork Lift license
Systematic Molding-1  Certification
