The Lilly Veterinary Resources (VR) department provides the animal and veterinary care program to discovery scientists utilizing animals at the Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL).  LRL is an AAALAC-accredited animal care facility.  VR is looking for an apprentice to provide operational systems support in multiple capacities.  The candidate is expected to work with a diverse team of professionals and personalities.  This position is intended to be administrative in nature but opportunities for direct animal activities may be available, if desired.

Key Responsibilities

Learn skills to support internal vivarium operations
Animal and veterinary care metrics
Animal census monitoring
Vivarium biosecurity monitoring
Vivarium space allocation
Supply and animal ordering
Scheduling animal receipt
Learn the principles of animal care and use as outlined in The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th Edition
Critically evaluate trend data collected from daily/weekly/monthly activities
Maintain accurate record keeping, conduct data analysis, and report data in written and oral formats when requested
Conduct work in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies, and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified 
Demonstrate pro-active and flexible behaviors and develop skills required to operate independently and contribute to departmental efficiency

Basic Qualifications

HS Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of related or professional experience. Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)   
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position 

Additional Skills/ Preferences

At least 1 year of college and/or associate degree in a related field.  
Experience, knowledge and/or desire to support in vivo biomedical research
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

Strong organizing/multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
