NextEra Energy is seeking a Tax Analyst to join the Tax team located in Juno Beach, Florida.  NextEra Energy Resources is the world's largest producer of energy from renewable wind and solar resources while Florida Power and Light is a regulated utility that serves approximately 5 million customers in Florida.

We are seeking a Tax Professional to join the Tax Forecasting team. The individual should be highly motivated, have a strong aptitude for utilizing new technology tools, and have a continuous improvement mindset. Forecasting serves as a precursor to financial reporting and is a catalyst for executive management decision making. The individual will develop an understanding of the tax forecasting process and will participate in analyzing variances between forecasted and actual amount. In this role, you will also work with members of the tax technology team to implement solutions that drive process improvement across the organization.

Tax Forecasting (Finance)

NEE forecasting role consolidates the operations of all business segments and ensures tax properly forecasted. This individual will coordinate with various business groups including Tax Planning, Tax Accounting and Reporting, and Finance.

Job Duties:

Work with Tax Planning/NEER Finance on forecasted transactions
Advanced excel modeling and preparation scenario planning
Prepare forecasted taxable income in BPC – learn the drivers of taxable income
Prepare forecasted cash tax payments and utilization of tax credits
Prepare forecast to actual variances of income tax expense and payments
Prepare PowerPoint presentations for senior management
Lead tax automation projects with department wide exposure
Utilize technology and develop workflows to reduce process cycle time

Job Overview

This job is responsible for moderate to complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns, separate company corporate income tax and partnership tax returns, consolidated tax returns and related reports.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
•   Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns
•   Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
•   Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
•   Conducts tax assumptions in project models
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor's Degree
•  Experience: 2+ years
