Job Summary

Siemens Large Drives Applications Business Unit is looking for an experienced Field Service Technician that will travel the US and perform predictive and preventative motor maintenance at customer sites. The location is flexible as long as you will within an hour of a major airport. This is an outstanding opportunity to travel the world while working for the leading company for the large motors and drives market at every stage of the lifecycle from sales to service and everything in between.

Responsibilities

Test, inspect, troubleshoot, or service electric motor applications, in both field service and shop settings.

Promote Siemens Brand through extensive and direct customer contact.

Read various manufacturers' schematic diagrams.

Install and/or remove electric motors at customer’s location.

Troubleshoot and test electric motor installations, using vibration, electrical tests and infrared.

Align motor shafts, couplings, gearboxes, pumps, fans, and other connected equipment at customer’s location using LASER alignment systems

Perform commissioning of new motors using various start-up testing procedures.

Operate specialized equipment, including but not limited to: vibration collection devices, infrared cameras, meg-ohmmeter, high-voltage insulation testers, ac/dc volt-ohm-milliamp meters, clamp-on ammeters, various kinds of hand-held power and non-power tools, etc.

Observe all safety procedures and use accurate protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).

Collect data and complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.

Keep work area neat and clean.

Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as needed.

Preferred level of education/ experience: high school diploma or equivalent, plus some trade school, vocational/ technical school, military, or on-the-job shop training.

Special Skills

Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Strong business interpersonal skills and ability to promote professional image.

Knowledge of AC and DC motors and motor application.
