The Role at a Glance

Lincoln Financial is seeking a dynamic and proven Director, Data Platform Strategy to lead Data Platform engineering teams as we modernize & transform our data ecosystem to the cloud (AWS).  As a remote employee, you will be leading multiple engineering teams and be responsible for the Data Platform ecosystem, both on premise and in the cloud, including data acquisition, streaming and batch processing, data modeling, quality, and overall data management.  You are a high potential technology leader who understands technical and business realities and can articulate both a near-term action plan and a long-term vision and exert positive influence on the rapid achievement of milestones. You have a track record in the delivery of software products with proven experience in building, managing, and motivating a strong distributed team of software engineers responsible for developing and deploying solutions according to customer and business requirements.  Candidates should possess a balance of technical depth, business acumen, and strong communication skills. You should be independent, results-oriented, eager to learn, and have a passion for technology.

What you'll be doing:

As a Director of Data Platform,Strategy you’ll partner and provide leadership to multiple agile teams of experienced software engineers, helping enable the teams to move forward with full DevSecOps capabilities in a cloud first environment in the realms of Data Platform & Analytics
You’ll have tremendous responsibility of developing and driving a strategic technical data platform roadmap, migrating and eliminating existing on premise solutions, reducing technical risks/debt, and building the data platform foundation for years to come
Be on the leading edge of the development of solutions as Lincoln moves forward in it’s Cloud Transformation with AWS.  
You’ll partner closely with business and IT stakeholders to ensure that our technical strategy is aligned with key initiatives and delivering on intended value & vision.

What we're looking for:

4 YearBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience (Minimum Required)Strong background in providing technical leadership to teams of application developers to drive adoption of strategic technical roadmaps in alignment with platform principles & standards10+ years of progressive leadership experience in high scale technology organizations with demonstrated technical and business acumen.  Must have demonstrated software development experience delivering new products to market
Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with driving data platform architectures, tools, & technologies including data acquisition, master data management, data quality & governance, compliance, data access layer, and analytics tools.
Experience with applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive data analytics and insights
Experience architecting, designing, and developing applications on the AWS platform
Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration, and automated deployments
Provides leadership on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
Proven ability to collaborate with internal teams, business partners and stakeholders, instilling a collaborative transparent culture that allows the team to be successful and ensures work aligns with strategic and tactical goals.
Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues and concepts to multiple organizational levels and executive management
Financial services/insurance background is a plus
