The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road!

Do you have a passion for 3D Visualization in the Automotive industry? As a 3D Visualization Artist on the General Motors User Experience team, you’ll be doing just that! This position will allow you to work with a very versatile group of industry professionals crafting visuals on customer facing displays in Automotive UX for the full GM catalog.

General Motors is seeking 3D Visualization Artists with strong technical skills & interest working on a wide range of projects. Our new team member will work alongside experienced professionals and must be able to communicate professionally with the diverse team.

We are looking for applicants with relevant Visualization qualifications and software experience who are ready to join our growing team. You will also be required to provide an updated portfolio that encompasses visually compelling 3D renders for both interior and exterior automotive subject matter.

Job Details

Work with engineers and designers to collect and cleanup 3D CAD data
Importing and Exporting 3D data into various 3D applications
Researching new techniques to streamline our production processes
Open to learning new programs, plug-ins, and processes
Create impactful 3D renderings and visualizations for interior and exterior automotive projects
Ability to model, texture, light and possibly animate in 3D packages
Demonstrate a passion for visualization and 3D graphics
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Maya with V-Ray
Unreal Engine 4.25
Nuke
Photoshop

Additional Description

Ideal skills may include a combination of the following:

3DS MAX and/or Cinema 4D users apply knowing they will need to get up to speed in Maya/UE4
V-RAY/RedShift/Octane experience is a plus
3D Modeling
3D Animation
2D Motion Graphics
Adobe After Effects
Substance Painter
Strong remote working habits, with online communication tools: Teams e-mail etc.
Strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
Reliability, able to work on tight project deadlines
Able to follow directions, meet deadlines, and respond to urgent requests
Able to prioritize projects and project files efficiently
Willingness and aptitude to learn about the industry
Open to feedback, knows how give and receive criticism, and when to defend design decisions

Education and Experience

3+ years working in 3d related industry or profession
Bachelor’s degree in 3D Visualization, Media Arts, Animation or other related field preferred, not required
