The Data Engineering team at JetBlue has been focused on building a truly modern, state-of-the-art data stack, which is evolving quickly to meet the needs of the fast-paced world of commercial aviation. The Data Engineering team’s work is critical to support JetBlue’s Operations, Customers, and Crewmembers so that we can continue to contribute to JetBlue’s mission of inspiring humanity together.
We are looking for Manager to work closely with business teams, infrastructure teams, product developers and Business Partners to develop data pipelines and data warehousing solutions. The Data Engineering team is focused on building data products to support the needs of Business Intelligence, Data Science, and enterprise-wide analytics. The Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and supporting new and existing data pipelines and transformations. An ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, data architecture, cloud infrastructure, and analytics. We are looking for a talented, delivery-focused leader who has a proven track-record of scaling engineering teams (both onsite and offshore), and who is capable of building strong relationships throughout the organization and with external Business Partners.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage a large team of Data Engineers and Data Operations Engineers, who focus on building and supporting data pipelines into and out of JetBlue’s enterprise data warehouse
Provide hands-on support for engineers during all phases of development, including designing, building, reviewing, and deploying new data models and data pipelines into production
Architect data warehousing solutions to meet the needs of analysts and data scientists, ensuring that all solutions comply with internal data management standards and strategies
Promote the use of data throughout the company by providing guidance and training on user-facing components of JetBlue’s data warehouse and other related tools to encourage more data-driven decision making across the organization
Develop a deep level of understanding of JetBlue’s data landscape, and serve as a subject matter expert in data source availability within the enterprise data warehouse
Interface with JetBlue technical teams (Infrastructure, Architecture, Business Intelligence, Data Science, DBAs) and serve as the main point of contact for all IT products related to data warehousing
Manage team financials and budgets, including working directly with Project Managers and Product Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery
Build strong relationships with new and existing external Business Partners
Define strategical improvements in process, including but not limited to introducing new technology products, revamping existing architecture, and/or reprioritizing tasks based on Crewmember needs
Present team achievements and deliverables to executive leadership and share key learnings at external conferences
Play a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goals

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering from an accredited college in related discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience.
Five (5) years of experience of technical management of data product portfolios, including three (3) years of experience working with core technologies related to data warehousing, e.g. data integration, business intelligence, analytics engineering, data pipelining, etc.
Experience in an IT/Business liaison role focused on managing relationships with business customers
Strong interpersonal, leadership and managerial skills including the ability to motivate others
Proven experience with dbt (data build tool) & Snowflake
Strong SQL skills
Experience with modern ELT orchestration tools like Azure Data Factory or Airflow
Experience with git and git-based workflows
Positive, upbeat energy and strong team player
Available for overnight travel (10%)
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Proven track record of successfully contributing to a project focused on building data products for a large enterprise in a cloud data warehouse, like Snowflake, in a cost-effective manner
Ability to tailor communication style to different audiences, and to exercise good judgment in frequency and nature of communications to different parties (senior management, stakeholders, team members, etc.)
Strong Python skills
Strong vendor management, negotiation, and resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
General knowledge of budget processes
Prior airline experience
