Join our cybersecurity team as a 2023 summer intern supporting our Threat Defense Services Team (TDS). TDS’s mission is to better secure the NEE network by discovering and eliminating threats/risks to the company before they become an issue. The candidate will work with the threat hunting team to learn the technical details and practices used to search for advanced threat actors and malware on networks. The candidate will also use this knowledge to develop or improve the current process for tracking findings and remediation efforts.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Use and analyze results from SIEMS such as Splunk, Qradar.
Create or improve processes such as tracking findings and root causes.
Creation of a custom detections for threats.
Discovery of threats to the network.
Understanding of computer networks and hardware focusing on

Ports and Protocols and how threat actors use them 
 Computer hardware and how Operating systems interact with components

Ability to interpret results from security-based tools such as anti-virus systems and system logs
Understanding of Vulnerabilities and how they are exploited

Skills:

Analytical Problem-Solving capabilities
Oral and written communication proficiency
Relationship building and management
Collaborating and directly working with multifunctional teams
Strong Technical background in networking
Understanding of malware and general threats to computer systems

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Assists department with assigned projects
Completes challenging projects and assignments
Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

High school grad / GED
Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
