Job Description

Ensures logistics capabilities are aligned with demand and supply plans, on-time performance, costs, and outlooks.  Responsible for determining gaps to plan and developing / executing improvement plans to meet supply chain needs.
This position is responsible for providing input and executing logistics strategies and maximizing leverage of logistics resources/contacts
This position is responsible for arranging and coordinating transportation assets and services to meet supply chain requirements
Ensure established logistics processes and procedures are being followed within the region, and make improvements to the processes as necessary
Serve as the primary point of contact for daily logistics operations decisions and on time delivery issues from customer service representatives
Provide expedited alternatives and solutions to minimize customer impact from changes in material or transportation availability
Escalate key logistics information to Global / Regional Supply Chain Managers that may impact supply chain operations as well as customer service when customers are impacted
Maintain responsibility for accuracy of SAP routes, and make any adjustments as required
Monitors the daily activities of the contract logistics functions (e.g.: freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, etc.) for the Business to assure needs are being met
Responsible for the investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of logistics complaints and claims to drive continuous improvement of transportation providers and recover losses
Drive regional on time delivery metrics and identify key trends or action items to improve performance
Make decisions on time sensitive operations questions from freight forwarder, customer service, warehouses, and supply chain
Support plant site operations by ensuring availability of trucks, railcars and other logistics-related equipment
Identify, lead, and participate in initiatives to reduce Finished Product Distribution Expense
Provide key business input in logistics bids (ocean, truck, LTL, etc.) and support implementation of new suppliers following bids
Confirm receipt of service and business approval to freight payment and other relevant parties

Successful Candidates Will Have:

Previous working experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to develop reports and analyze data to initiate problem solving. Must be analytical and data driven in decision making process with strong understanding of excel and data manipulation.
Must have proven success in a multi-faceted, fast paced job shop environment (low volume/high mix).
Excellent interpersonal, writing, speaking, coordinating and organizational skills

Qualifications (training, certs, education, experience)

BS/BA in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or relevant field preferred
1-2 Year Supply Chain experience required
Strong leadership and collaboration skills required
ASCM Certification, such as CLTD or CPIM, strongly preferred (or on the job within 12 months)

Requirements:

Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes including planning, sourcing, making and delivering activities and the functions that govern the flow of materials, information and funds.  Ability to think about the supply chain from a process perspective and improve key areas of value from a customer perspective.  Ability to respond to demand and deliver customer expected quality.
Knowledge of the process that documents the activities that connect an organization to its customers, such as order management, create and maintain customer database, manage accounts receivable, credits, collections and invoicing.  It also includes finished goods warehouse management where storage, picking, packing and customer specific product/packing configurations are managed.  Understanding that orders (import/export) are consolidated for transportation, outbound freight and channel business rules are managed.
Knowledge of the activities and processes in the management of the warehouse (contract, hours of operation, accessorial costs, capacity) that impact the successful integration into the logistics strategy and ability to meet customer need, while reducing inventory and preventing stock-outs and missed shipments.
